THE FOREIGN STUDENT AT EL GROUP OF SCHOOLS
ELTHECO Divinity School has been demonstrating commitment to the whole church in both its interdenominational program and its international outreach. It has provided theological education for a growing number of Christian leaders from all over the world. We accept as a part of our whole task the responsibility for quality education beyond the boundaries of Africa.
Each year our school receives many requests from students from other lands who wish to pursue their theological education here. It is our task to determine which of these students would be accepted. In making this determination the following factors are considered:
Those desiring to submit application for El University Divinity School may request an application form and current catalog from:
THE ADMISSION OFFICE OF EL GROUP OF SCHOOLS NIGERIA.
We are pleased that a growing number of students from other countries are interested in studying here. Those international students who are already on our campus have contributed greatly. It is our constant prayer that during their time with us, our international students may be better prepared to make a significant contribution to the work of Jesus Christ following their return to their home countries.
I am glad to enclose a copy of our current catalog and the preliminary foreign student application form. This form should be carefully completed and returned with transcripts of your previous education and evidence of your proficiency in English, if English is not your native tongue. English proficiency is demonstrated by the test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL). If you have not previously taken the examination, arrangements for doing so may be by contacting the Educational Testing Service. If you request the Testing Service to send us a copy of your scores, please refer to us. If you have not yet taken TOEFL, please take this number to the test so you can request that we receive your scores. If your native tongue is English, you will be required to submit scores from the Graduate Record Examination (these test scores are required for most citizens making application to the Divinity School). For information you should contact the Educational Testing Service. In lieu of TOEFL scores, we are willing to accept scores from the English Language Institute or confirmation that you have successfully completed GCE O’level English language.
The accompanying Declaration and Certification of Finances must be completed and returned with the preliminary application form. We are enclosing information about our costs with a statement on scholarships and employment. Our scholarship resources are very limited, and in order to qualify, you must have, among other things, a sponsoring agency (e.g. church, mission board, denomination etc) which will provide for most of your expenses.
Only upon receiving your (1)Preliminary Application (2)Official academic records (3)TOEFL or GCE scores (4)Declaration and certification of finance and (5) the N10,000 application fee, will the admission committee give initial consideration to your file and recommend whether or not you should complete the full application and pay the balance of the application fee (an additional N10,000).
We are committed to quality education in the evangelical tradition to prepare men and women for significant ministries throughout the world. We seek students dedicated to Jesus Christ and to the communication of the gospel in our times. If God directs to make application, we will be pleased to give careful consideration to your application. If you have further questions, please contact us or our Foreign Student Advisor.
This note does not mean our rejection to foreign students, in fact, we need foreign students both in full time, in part time and in correspondent studies even today.

Eltheco facilities are located along Port Harcourt Road in areas and buildings used exclusively for Eltheco and its related ministries. Our vision is that within five years or less Etheco will occupy a spacious permanent campus where other ministries – including agriculture, hospital and expanded vocational training – can be more comfortably housed. Presently El Theological College is at its permanent site at Asa Nnentu, Ugwunagbo L.G.A, Abia State and occupied vast area of land and position.
ACTIVITIES AND LIFE AT EL THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE
SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES:
The spiritual standards at El Theological College are purposefully high. We expect our students to be clearly born again and to live exemplary Christian lives. A hunger for purity of heart and the fullness of the Holy Spirit is necessary. Those who are unwilling to uphold the standards of Eltheco are advised not to apply for admission. If, after being enrolled, a student is unwilling to conform to the standards and spirit of the college, he/she be asked to withdraw.
PERSONAL DEVOTIONS AND PRAYER EMPHASIS:
No Christian is more effective than his prayer life. Since devotional training is one of the most important phases in the curriculum, a regular time for Bible reading and prayer is provided in the daily schedule. All are encouraged to develop faithful habits of prayer and meditation. All class periods are opened with prayer. Special times of prayer will also be called for intercession.
CHAPEL SERVICES:
Chapel service is held daily, Tuesday through Friday. Attendance is required of all students. These services provide spiritual uplift for all, each service being devoted to singing, prayer and sermons.
DEPARTMENT OF CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES:
Jesus Christ taught His disciples by his word then every day had them put His teaching into practice. EL THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE emphasizes this fact by making a close connection between knowing and doing. Therefore, the Christian ministries department of Eltheco directs students in practical ministerial experience. This is why classroom instruction is conducted only four days per week – Tuesday through Friday. Students report to Eltheco on Monday evenings and leave for supervised weekend ministry assignments by Friday afternoon.
SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES:
Our aim at EL THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE is to train people as life-long students. Along with specific instruction in Bible, theology and general education, we seek to impart good study habits, plus other educational tools for continued study after graduation. The academic rigor at Eltheco is high. Spirituality and laziness do not go together. You should expect to be the best possible student for the glory of God.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT:
Freshmen, sophomores, Juniors and seniors. Each Eltheco class will meet at the beginning of each trimester to elect a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. These officers will make up the Eltheco student council, which in turn elect its own officers. The purpose of the student council will be to encourage the students to promote the goals of the college and to facilitate effective communication between the students and the college staff.
COURSE OF STUDY AVAILABLE AT EL THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE
Eltheco also offers basic computer courses to regular students to equip them for word processing in today’s world. Advanced courses are offered to special students. El Theological College offers what other Bible colleges in Nigeria do not offer, such as certificate of charisma for those who want to be involved in deliverance and liberation ministries according to the African perceptive and the ancient religion of the Africans. This is also a two-year certificate course.
WHAT EL THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE OFFERS TO STUDENTS FROM OUTSIDE NIGERIA
The vision of El Theological College is to train students from many countries of black Africa as may be possible. By bringing together a highly trained and spiritually dynamic holiness teaching force in West Africa, we offer an educational opportunity for black Africans, which cannot be equaled or surpassed even by traveling to the U.S or Europe. African pastors, evangelists and missionaries need to be trained in Africa where instructors understand Africa and where knowing and doing can go on simultaneously.
FOR MISSION: students from Bible college in the U.S, Canada and Europe. We afford an opportunity for academically competitive instruction in a thoroughly cross-cultural environment. Eltheco is ideally suited for “Junior Year Abroad” programmes for missions majors. The study of missiology in a Third World atmosphere adds a valuable internship element to their learning experiences.
COST AT EL THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE:
Student attending El Theological College pay only a small portion of the actual cost of their education. The balance is paid by the Rev Prof Emma Ononuju, praying to have supporters abroad. This means, God has a vital stake in your training. He is interested in you. He is willing to make this generous subsidy to your schooling because He recognizes the value of Christian education in Africa and the need for qualified workers to fulfill the Great commission. Thank God for that and pray for Rev Prof Ononuju and family. Pray for more supporters also who can sponsor African students for missions and gospel ministry at large.

Effective testimony for Christ should be a guiding principle of conduct on the part of all students.
